Business Diagnostic
Identify the problem before choosing the solution

The Villa Intellia Business Diagnostic helps business owners and organisational decision-makers identify which part of a difficult situation requires closer attention.

It is not a test of whether a business is good or bad. It is a structured starting point for clarifying the issue before time, money, authority, or organisational effort is committed to a response.

Why begin with a diagnostic?
A visible problem may not be the underlying problem.

For example:

  • a technology problem may begin in unclear process ownership;
  • a staffing problem may reflect workload design or decision bottlenecks;
  • a cash-flow problem may be connected to pricing, customer concentration, debt, or delivery capacity;
  • a marketing problem may actually be a positioning or offer problem;
  • a compliance problem may reflect weak governance rather than missing paperwork;
  • and repeated operational failures may originate in strategic ambiguity.

The diagnostic is intended to widen the initial view enough to reduce premature solution selection.

What the diagnostic examines
The questions may cover several connected areas:

Strategic direction
Purpose, priorities, positioning, investment, major commitments, and long-term consequence.

Business model
Revenue, pricing, customers, costs, suppliers, capacity, cash timing, and commercial dependence.

Operations
Workflow, delivery, bottlenecks, handovers, workload, exceptions, and informal workarounds.

Organisation and responsibility
Roles, authority, accountability, capability, coordination, and owner dependence.

Technology and information
Systems, data, integration, documentation, reliability, and technological dependencies.

Governance, compliance, and risk
Decision rights, obligations, controls, traceability, oversight, and correction.

Market visibility and communication
Audience, value explanation, positioning, trust, differentiation, and consistency.

What to expect
The diagnostic contains a short sequence of multiple-choice and written questions.

Please answer from the perspective of the business as it currently operates, not only from the perspective of the solution you may already prefer.

You may be asked about:

  • the problem or decision creating the greatest pressure;
  • how long the issue has been present;
  • which parts of the business are affected;
  • what has already been attempted;
  • what constraints limit the available choices;
  • and what outcome you are seeking.

What happens after submission?
Your submission will be reviewed by Villa Intellia.

Where the information indicates a potentially suitable consulting or review pathway, we may respond with:

  • a request for limited clarification;
  • a suggestion to begin with a relevant Professional Briefing;
  • an invitation to an initial discussion;
  • a proposed defined review;
  • or an explanation that another professional or service is more appropriate.

Submission does not create a consulting relationship, guarantee that work will be accepted, or commit either party to proceed.

Privacy and discretion
Please provide enough information for the issue to be understood, but do not include passwords, payment-card details, highly sensitive personal information, legally privileged material, confidential third-party information, or documents you are not authorised to disclose.

Information submitted through the diagnostic will be handled in accordance with the Villa Intellia Privacy Policy and used to assess and respond to the enquiry.

Before you begin
The diagnostic is most useful when you are prepared to examine the problem rather than seek confirmation of a predetermined answer.

You do not need to have a complete explanation. Uncertainty is an appropriate reason to begin.

Prefer to write directly?
You may instead provide a concise outline through the Contact page. Include the business context, the nature of the problem or decision, the principal constraints, and any timing pressure.
